Hi everyone!
My name is Tammy and I am hoping that you guys would be able to offer me some much needed advice. I'm currently a student at University of California- Riverside and will be graduating in spring 2010 (next year) with a degree in Biology. I was hoping to pursue nursing as a career but don't know what I should do to get started with nursing. All that I've found so far that fit my situation would be an accelerated BSN program for people who have a BS in a subject other than nursing. This interests me because I would not have to start completely from the beginning and my 4 years at Riverside wouldn't go to waste. However, I'd still like to know more about other programs that are available to me.
Can anyone please offer any advice/suggestions/comments/anything? Anything at all will be greatly appreciated, thank you so much for your time! =)

I'm not sure about the schools in your area, but I think the program you are looking at would be a very good option for you since you already have a BS. You could go to a direct entry ADN or BSN program, but like you said, would kind of make your other degree seem like a waste.
Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I have read on here that there are some NP schools that will allow you to apply with a BS in something other than nursing. My understanding is you usually compete your BSN in the first year and then move onto your MSN while working as a nurse. Might be something to look into as well if you have ever thought about become a NP.
