You passed this past may? That's nothing...I passed my boards in November of 2010 and didn't find a job till July of 2011....just be persistent and keep calling the places you're interested in

You might need to branch out to Seguin, Schertz, Corpus Christi, and other small to midsized cities to find employment. There is no nursing shortage in the major cities of Texas, despite what you may have heard.

Also, pound the pavement. Up to 70 percent of jobs are not advertised, so you are going to need to walk into places during business hours while dressed nicely. Visit all the nursing homes, home health companies, private duty agencies, hospices, psychiatric facilities and physical rehab centers within a 50 mile radius of your home and apply in person This technique often results in on-the-spot interviews.

Did as you said my first stop was a nursing home offered me a job on the spot unfortunately I couldn't take the job wouldn't work for me but tomorrows another day to get out and try again :saint:

Apply at assisted living facility's near you. Many of them hire new grad lvn/lpn's as a medication tech. Its not much but its a start.

That's how I got my first job, and im almost at 1 year which looks good on a resume and allowed me to get a better job.

I just started working as a hospice nurse doing continuous care for patients.

I've actually considered applying for med tech positions. Would that type of position give us (new grads) the LVN experience we so desperately need? :unsure:

Google nursing agencies around your area. That is what I did and some are so small that people have never heard of them. Also post your resume on career builder.com that is how I got my first job. See if these nursing agencies are available in your area: Epic Health Services, Maximum, Delta T Group, PSA, etc.

You aren't alone! I got my RN license last month in NC and have zero luck finding a job. Hospitals are hiring just a handful of new grads. I go to interviews at LTC facilities and they tell me I should work in a hospital as a new grad. I've even had places call for an interview just to call me back a few hours later canceling because I have no experience. That is another thing I don't understand. I know a few classmates who got jobs that require at least 2 years experience. I also know people who failed the NCLEX and still have RN jobs waiting for them. It's not been the rainbows and sunshine people make it out to be as a new grad. Good luck!!

I'm struggling here as well. I live in the Cartersville area and have been branching out as far as Atlanta, Rome and Rockmart for a position and no go. I put in over 30 applications online within a few days and sent out my resume to several places for various positions. It does get depressing after awhile, but as of late I am taking a break from putting in applications and regaining composure so it doesn't get to me. Trying again later this week.
