I got accepted into the RN program at Del Mar College. I can't wait to start, orientation is in about two weeks, as well as the math test.
I had a question! Once you've completed the first two level's, are you able to test out for LVN? I am just curious, because it would be a great idea to start working as an LVN already to make more money!?!?!

happy holiday Crazymommy,
You mentione you just got acccepted into the ADN program @ Del Mar College, which i think it's so cool. Congratulation . I would be glad if you could hint me about the selection process or criteria at Del Mar. I've taken absolutely all the pre-requisites needed for ADN program with a NET score of 920 at Mclennan Community College but my application was refused because I didn't make at least 100pts on TOEFL IBT.
Thanks
The TOEFL, is that the test of English as a foreign language? Why are they giving you such a hard time?! When I applied for College they only let me take a small test to determine for knowledge of the Enlgish language. I didn't have to take the TOEFL test. Are there any other RN programs around where you live at?
Sandra
You're right about TOEFL..What baffels me about TOEFL requirement for foreign students is this .."after studying, taking and passing the English composition 1 and 2 with B and A respectively, we, foreigners, shouldn't be deprieved from applying to the RN program like any other students. Btw, earlier before I transferred to MCC, an advisor told me I don't need the TOEFL because of my grades in Eng. composition.
I think MCC is the only Junior College that offers RN program in Waco. I'd be glad if you have any suggestion or if you know of any Junior/community college around Waco (probably 2hours away from Waco)
At DelMar they look at your GPA and Hesi A2 scores. I've seen many students get into the program with a GPA of 2.8 and up. Even if you don't have that many points on your Hesi A2. I really don't know any schools in Waco or near Waco. I am to "deep" south in Texas *lol*.
Where are you from? I am from Germany, moved to the US four years ago.
Thank you for the brief information. As a matter of fact, after calculating my GPA, I'll go ahead by putting Del Mar into consideration.
I'm currently looking for colleges that offer the HESI A2 test this month. In order to have many points of the HESI, I bought the study guide and I've started studying for it.
I'm from Nigeria, West Africa. I came to the U.S in '06 from Bulgaria. btw, I've alot of Bulgarians who go to college in Germany.
Do you have any specific advice on how to pass the HESI A2 with "HIGH POINTS"?
Good idea about the study guide. Just make sure you have taken Chemistry and the Biology classes, and then you should do fine. I did bad on one section, on those English words that I did not know (not Medical Terminology). DelMar offers Hesi A2 through out the whole semester, if you need phone numbers, I can get them for you. Just remember you can only take the Hesi A2 twice in your life time and only one per semester.
That is so great, from Nigeria, also very far. Have you come by yourself? My Mom used to travel alot to Tunis :). I regret that I did not go. We traveled alot though, and once I am done with Nursing, I want to do the same with my children . Love meeting people from around the world! So, nice to meet you, my name is Sandra by the way :typing.

Every school does not require the HESI. CHeck around some require the NET and some none. Every HESI is not exactly the same. The institution has the ability to tailor make their exam. The on I took had no Chemistry; only A&P, Math, Grammar and Reading.
According to your previous message, you mentioned that you didn't do well on one section which makes me wonder if there wasn't enough information/help in the HESI study guide on how to pass the HESI.
Sure, I came to the U.S by myself; I must confess that it was a great trip. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Tunisia but I've heard good things about it. I believe you'll have the opportunity to travel around with your kids by the time you graduate and start making some pretty good pay, you know!!! :) I'm Charles. Nice meeting you...
The study guide is good. It helped a lot, especially on the math part . So how is it going so far?

I'm a 4th semester DelMar nursing student.
You can take the CNA exam after you have "demonstrated competency in providing basic nursing skills in accordance with the schools curriculum." That's from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability, the agency that credentials CNA's. http://www.dads.state.tx.us/providers/NF/credentialing/nar/faq_nar.html
The program is not set up for you to become a LVN after the first two semesters.
Good luck with the program! I really like the program & the instructors @ DelMar.
It would help to get some extra cash, if you could exit as an LVN and still continue until you are done with RN. I am looking into it and might not even do it, if it's that much trouble.
I am a CNA already, I work at Memorial kwscholar.
