I've been reading posts about the deficiencies that a foreign nurse graduates have to take in order to licensed here in California. My son had the same problem,he graduated april 2014 and applied for licensure here in Cali and he got the letter saying he has to re take his OB.He applied to Oregon and got his license there but was not able to find a job for new grad,so what he did was endorsed his License to Washington state and got a job in a nursing skilled facilty.I called Cali board of nursing and asked them if my son could take the OB class in other state and they said yes as long as it is nationally accredited school of nursing,so he found a school in washington that would take him for that class and he'll start this Aug.and he'll finish it by Dec.we tried Cali school and theres a long waiting list of foreign nurses and he can't wait that long.i hope this info could help those foreign nurse graduates.

Hi jenjie6856,
In what country did your son attend nursing school? What were the steps involved in getting licensed in Oregon? Did he first get evaluated by CGFNS? I am applying to nursing school in New Zealand but want to eventually have the option of working in California, Oregon, and Washington, having grown up in the Pacific Northwest.
Thank you very much for your time.

Hi just wondering if you could share the name of the school? I'm working as an RN in Washington and need to complete OB as my Australian degree didn't cover it in enough depth for California. My email is [email protected]
