Hi all nurses!
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place and need a bit of advice. I have been working in a nursing home as assistant nurse for two years. I have recently graduated my diploma of nursing making me an endorsed enrolled nurse and gained casual work at a local private hospital. I still work as an ain at the nursing home as i need the permanent money until i pick up more work at the hospital. My problem is that i dont like working at the nursing home i much prefer the hospital where i am employed as an EEN. Is it too risky to leave the permanent job for a casual job? My heart says yes but mind says no. Help!!

I don't understand most of this post. What is an "endorsed enrolled nurse", an "EEN", or an "ain". I'm thinking you're not in the US, but please explain what these titles are?

These are Australian terms.
AIN--assistant in nursing (CNA)
EEN--endorsed enrolled nurse similar to LPN
Perhaps those in Aus can chime in the risk of leaving a full time permanent job in aged care/LTC for a per diem/casual job in a private hospital. Do EENs do grad placements like RNs?
Do you plan on furthering towards RN?
Yes those terms are correct sorry i am in australia and i havent been able to find any other helpful forums so thought i would try my luck here. EEN (LPN) dont do post grads here. i want to be at the hospital but im worried about leaving my permanent job at the nursing home even if it is only as a care aide..not my choice but its stable. I think its worth the risk but was hoping someone whos been in a similar situation could shed some light.

There are EEN grad programs, the other way is if your hospital sends emails out to casual staff about short term secondment opportunities to apply for them even ifvthey are for an RN. If you find a ward you like and are asked back to frequently take it as a positive sign ..... talk to the ANUM about being a refere for you or talk to the NUM about opportunities to join the team permanently.
Thankyou! I am going to go and talk to each of the NUMs today and explain my situation and see if they can gaurantee me anything.
