Wanted to share my NCLEX tale, as hopefully there are some on this website that are in the same boat.
I am a Canadian trained nurse who graduated from a RN Diploma program 13 years ago and have been working in Labour & Delivery here in Canada since graduation.
I decided to write the NCLEX this year because I want to obtain a licence to be able to work in the USA.
I used the Kaplan Premier NCLEX study guide, Barron's Medication flash cards and I downloaded the RN Mastery App and an app called RN Crush to review and practice.
Because I work in a specialized area with a specific client population - I focused my studying on Med-Surg and cardiac topics, lab values, and different medications.
I decided to write the NCLEX in Orlando so I flew there a couple days early and booked into a nice hotel. I had a couple of days before I wrote to study by myself and relax. I think this really helped me to focus and prepare.
I sat for the NCLEX at 8am on Thursday and after about 85 questions and just under an hour, it was all over. I like many others, left the building with no clue either way how I did. I had mostly prioritizing, health teaching, and medication multiply choice questions and approx 10-15 SATA questions.
I flew home the next morning and agonized over the next 24hrs waiting to learn my fate by checking the Quick Results page ( I decided not to try the PVT, mostly because I was chicken)
At exactly 48hrs after I finished writing the NCLEX, I was able to use the quick results page and found out I PASSED!! - I'll admit I shed a couple of tears of relief.
I guess the next steps for me will be starting to apply for nursing jobs in an area I would like to relocate.
And for everyone planning or at least thinking of writing the NCLEX, I wish you luck! It is possible to succeed - find study materials that work for you and believe in yourself :)

Hi we are the same I graduated from nursing 11years ago and now trying to review. I feel like Im so dumb and couldn't answer the easy questions. I know because its like I am baby beginning to crawl. Anyhow whats were ur materials for content?and how many months did you study?
Hi Lnzsay
The most helpful part for me was in the Kaplan Study guide when it discusses how to interpret the questions and how to answer questions ( thinking about ABCs, Maslow. ..)
I looked up topics that I needed to work on and made a lot of notes to review.
Although I worked on practice questions and reviewed rationales on and off a couple months before the exams, I really started studying seriously about 3 weeks before my exam date.
I know it seems overwhelming, but you would be surprised how much you actually know.
I wish you much luck when it comes time for you to write the NCLEX

Yes this is the book I am referring to :)
I reviewed all of the questions that were in this book (each chapters has review questions as well)
I also bought the full version of the app NCLEX RN Mastery and roughly answered about 500-700 questions on that app.
Hope that helps í ½í¸Š

Thank u very much u. I really appreciate u for answering my questions[emoji4] I am using saunders 5th edition now but the book really overwhelmed me. I had difficulty studying with it so I am using the cd for questions instead. I have mastery nclex rn but not the full version but I am planning to get it. I am not in a hurry now as of my cgfns verification has not yet forwarded from my country.
