Hi all! I am looking to transfer from AL to Spokane and wanted to know if anyone can fill me in on any details about Deaconess. For example, do they do computer charting? I am used to picking my own scrubs as far as style, color and patterns. What is the rule @ Deaconess? I guess the biggest question would be ...do you recommend, or not recommend any areas of Deaconess? I will appreciate any input. Thanks!

Why are you moving to Spokane? As someone who has had the unfortunate luck of living in Spokane for the past 23 years, I can say, that there is no worse place to be a nurse than Spokane, Washington.
As for Deaconess, it was bought out by a for profit company, "Community Health", from Tenessee. It is an anti union, anti employee company, who convinced the nurses, who had finally unionized after a zillion years, to vote out there union.
It is become a terrible place to work, not that it was ever a great place to work.
If you are hell bent on moving to Washington State, I would head for the Tri Cities, and work at Kennewick General Hospital. It is unionzed with WSNA, and had much better pay, benefits, working conditions, etc.
You have been forewarned. PM me for more information.
JMHO and my NY $0.02.

My mother, who's been retired now for over 20 years, worked at Deaconess for 30+ years and then she opened her own AFH in my childhood home so my sister and I grew up around caregivers and nursing and then she sold her AFH and moved to Kennewick where you're right, the nurses are treated much better than Deaconess.
