Daytona State Nursing Spring 2020

Published

Hello my name is Cassidy. I am writing on here because I wanted to get an idea on how many people are signing up for the nursing program of spring 2020. You would sign up in September. My GPA is 3.84 I am currently in my last prerequisite Microbiology. I still have to do teas on my teas practice I scored 81% in reading 70% in math in high 50%+ in science English (which I am trying to bring up before I take teas). What scores would you recommend to get that way I am guaranteed a spot. I can't wait another year to get in.. I know in my micro class there is about 20+ applying for September. Just wanted some advice...

As long as you get the required scores for the TEAS, they don't really look at it. It is used as a tie breaker though. For instance, if there's one seat left and 2 students who have completed all the same prereqs also have the EXACT same GPA, the student with the higher reading score gets in. A lot of the weight is put on your GPA, and with a 3.8 you're pretty much gauranteed a spot. Last semester's cut off was relatively high at 3.41, not including callbacks on the wait list, and Spring has always been less competitive than fall, even though anything could happen. Of course do the best you can, but if you're a perfectionist don't let it worry you too much. Also don't worry about most of your micro class applying with you. There are few, if any, other programs at DSC that require classes like Micro and Human Anatomy so almost everyone in those classes are specifically taking those for nursing every year. There hasn't been a single class yet where the cutoff was even close to 3.8 at DSC.

Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better! I did teas in August and got above minimum scores. So I think I have a great shot of getting in. I will be putting my application in on Friday. Wish me luck!! Thank you for replying!!

Yeah no problem! I'm applying with you lol.

Good luck !! I applied today at palm coast campus. Now Its the waiting game ? I hope you get in and I hope I get in !!

I went today at Daytona! I took most of my classes at DSC and have like a 3.79 or something like that here, but a couple years back I went to UCF as an engineering major and didn't do great, so my combined gpa is ***ed at 3.34 lmao. I'm not totally worried because I applied for the first time last semester and I was actually offered a seat. I was sent a rejection letter, DIDNT KNOW I WAS PUT ON WAIT LIST, and missed the call thinking it was one of those annoying *** alerts from the school that are never relevant ?

But yeah, the whole 1-2 month wait is insane. I know you'll get in so I hope you get the campus you want! I'm shooting for Deltona.

That sucks omg!! Now you have to go through this all again! I am aiming for the palm coast campus bc its closer for me but honestly idc I will drive if I have too !! Hopefully I will see you at orientation. I am excited to be able to finally apply those prerequisites took me a full year to finish lol. My sister just got in, in the may application period. So she will be a semester ahead of me so I can get the ins and outs. Im nervous but so excited for this journey!!

I applied last year and didn't get accepted. My GPA is low-2.55. I meet all of the other requirements. I applied on September 6th at the Edgewater campus for Spring (again). The letter I received last year said cut off GPA was 2.79. They are more lenient for classes starting in the spring but not sure if I will make it or not. I was told to keep trying. I've taken everything I can possibly take to raise my GPA. Good luck to everyone! If I don't get in this year, I will transfer to Valencia College and try there. I believe they have a waiting list. I was trying to avoid traffic and tolls but I want to move on in my nursing career.

I hope you get in !! I don't think there is that many applicants this year but you never know. I went into the ms brown office and I just wanted to make sure she had my application which she did bc I applied at Palm Coast. When she looked for my name which starts with W she didnt have to scroll that long so hopefully not to many people applied !!!! But if you have to I would try to get into valencia or put applications in other nursing programs. That way you can start and move on. I know it is a waiting game but don't give up your almost there!

Hey you guys! I turn in my application September 13, I have a 3.13 GPA (screwed up the beginning of college) But I pray it is enough to get me in the program, I am so ready! When do you guys think we will be receiving the letter? I’m thinking that the ending of October.

Im sure you will get in Hopefully not to many people applying for spring ❤️ I am thinking around October 26th thats when other people have gotten it that applied in spring semester. I am so anxious and very impatient I just want to know already!! LET ME KNOW WHEN ANYONE GETS A LETTER!!!

I pray we all get in ! Yes I am soooo anxious !
