11 days after job shadow.. have not heard anything yet..:(

Published

I had a job shadow in a big hospital here in dayton. After 4 hours of shadowing, The manager asked me if I liked their dept. I said I loved it, I enjoyed it and also I learned a lot from the staff nurse that I shadow with. She said, ''Good'' and then I asked if I still need to go back to her office and she said just wait for the call of hr. but it's been 11 days since that day and no calls yet from hr. I e-mailed them last day but they did not reply.

Please give me some suggestions or advice if I still hope they are gonna offer me the job.:(

Send an email/letter or call and reiterate how much you enjoyed the opportunity to shadow and how you feel you would be a good fit for the department. Keep your name on the manager's mind!

Thanks a lot for the response, I am so sad.. I'm losing hope.. I want that job so bad.. I sent a thank you e-mail to the manager the day after my job shadow that's why I feel like I don't want to disturb her anymore even though I did not get a response from her. I e-mailed last day the hr dept and haven't receive any e-mail from them too. I am just so sad and I don't know what to do.. I feel like I need to move on.. I really want that job, I tried my best to be good in my job shadow and felt like my interview went well.. I'm still scared though that maybe I still did not do great..:(

While I know it's hard to wait, consider that the wait time may have nothing to do with you and your suitability for the job. We've had graduates from my school not hear from HR because hospital administration suddenly decided on a hiring freeze or to only hire internal candidates. We've had graduates not hear from HR because the nurse manager they interviewed with had a family emergency and left town without putting the applicant's name forward. After 11+ days, I'd do what happyinillinois said, but try not to lose heart.

Thanks AssociateDegree, I appreciate your advice, thanks a lot

I just got a job offer today from a job I interviewed and shadowed over a month ago. Sometimes the managers and HR are busy. Sometimes they may be performing background checks. I know it is nerve wrecking but don't give up hope and hang in there.

I am having a similar situation. I interviewed for a position last month and just had my shadow day monday. True, it's only Thursday, but it's been in my past experience that if they don't get back to you within 72 hrs, then they're not interested. I thought everything went well. I didn't have much contact with the director as I did with my shadow nurse, but my shadow nurse and I got along well. I even asked if I could stay longer (this is an L&D position and I wanted to see the delivery) and was told I could stay as long as I wanted; we even talked for a little while. I never picked up on a negative vibe (those vibes are blatantly obvious and you know you're not getting the position). I emailed her to thank her and she responded that I was "most welcome!" no indication wether I would receive an offer. Since then, I've received silence. This wait game is killing me, I REALLY want this job. Any advice - thoughts?

Join the club. So far I have had 2 interview/shadow experiences and its been over a month and nothing yet. I was a recruiter with Robert Half before going into nursing and we were never this bad. Best thing to do is to keep applying for jobs. Don't feel discouraged because there are a lot of qualified candidates out there.

Sorry to hear this

perhaps Nurse manager is overwealmed forgetfull, ill on vacation

I would write a letter or e mail thanking them for the chance to see the facility

be persistant but not a pest you know.

maybe she is trying to soften you up then get you IN and say something like I can pay you what you are worth.

hope not keep spirits up

Keep looking just instead.

It always easier to blow an aplicant off over the phone

appear in person. Read body language and voice tonality.
