Dance considered humanties?

Published

Hello,

I have a quick question does anyone know if MCC or any of the Maricopa colleges consider dance (DAH110 I think..) a acceptable Humanties class. I'm going to take contemporary cinema online and wanted to add dance to knock out the 6 humanties creds that I need. Any advice?

Speak to an advisor at the school. However, I suspect dance would be considered a PE course rather than a humanities course. Generally, humanities are considered this like languages, composition, etc.

I spoke with the nursing advisor it looks like they do consider it an acceptable Humanties class, intro to dance and world dance studios, respectively DAH100 and DAH201 . I'll sure be taking it.

One thing to also consider is if it is an acceptable humanities course for the universities you may consider applying to down the road. There are quite a few off the wall courses that qualify as a humanities course for general education degrees. However, find out if it will count towards an ADN and later on a BSN. Or else you are wasting time and money and will need more courses later when you advance your education.

Thank you for mentioning that, because I didn't think about it at all. I was just more worried about getting a class out the way. Im going to research and make sure because that last thing I have to waste is - MONEY!

If they are survey history type classes typically they are considered humanities. If they are instructional lesson type usually considered PE/kinesiology

I took intro to dance online at SCC and it was accepted by both SCC and NAU as a humanities prereq to the nursing programs! Because you are learning the history of dance and not dances themselves it's considered a HU with C.

I sent an email the UIU to find out if its acceptable.

Also, Im looking at the Spring AGEC listing and it has Into to dance as HU with a G awareness.

Oh was it hu with G? Whoops lol well good luck, I hope you hear good news!
