New L&D nurse here. Im seeing a fair amount of doctors orders that contradict protocol. Including giving cytotec for elective induction with contractions every 2 minutes - palpate mild, pt rates 1 on pain scale. No iupc. Policy states give only if 5 minutes apart or less. Is this common? 0 Likes

Apr 17, 2017 So my question to you is - are the nurses following the order, and if so, why?Your policy states only place the Cytotec if the patient is having 2 or fewer contractions in 10 minutes? That seems like a very overly-conservative policy. There could be a happy medium between still placing with q2m UCs, and do not place if more than 2 in 10. 0 Likes
