Are there any CVOR nurses on this Forum? I will be looking for a hospital in South Florida this winter and would like to have any information that you have to assist me in the decision of which hospital to choose.
Thanks,

Getting only lookers and no responses. Why? Either there are no Heart Team nurses that read here or they don't want to share their info. How about any OR nurses in South Florida? Got any good information. Would like to find a busy yet friendly OR that does Hearts and other chest and vascular cases. I worked ER and Nursing Adm. when I was there last. Only know about Wellington, Palms West, St. Marys and Cleveland Clinic when they were in Ft. Lauderdale. Wellington and Palms West didn't do hearts and I'm not sure about St. Marys. Hope I get a couple responses. Thanks if you look.

St. Pete area...Bayfront has a great CVOR and CVICU. Dr. Vangelder runs the dept and is great. I think pay is around $30

This thread is old, but just in case you are still interested..
Hearts are big business in South Florida now. Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale has a relatively new unit that specializes in hearts. The call it the Heart Center of Excellence (or something cheesy like that). It also includes a new CVICU with a lot of new and state of the art equipment. The handle a lot of cardiac caths, open hearts, etc there.
Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale also just built a new stepdown unit for their open heart cases. Florida Medical Center in Lauderhill also has a heart center. Westside Regional Hospital in Plantation doesn't have a heart center but they do a lot of open hearts and cardiac caths and they have a nice sized CVICU. There are others, but that is just Broward County. In Miami Dade county there is Mount Sinai Hospital on Miami Beach that is a part of the Miami Heart Institute. These are just a few.
