Published

hey there, I am looking for information regarding the acceptance into Nursing for Fall 2016 CSI, college of staten island. i have the information about the pre reques. and NLN exam from the college website. but i want to know the real information from former/current students, how many students are accepted in each semester(total seats for one sem) and what is average NLN exam score and GPA the college is looking for? Is any body waiting for acceptance for Fall 2016, you can leave comments also. Has anybody taken NLN for Fall.

There are lot of CSI students who wants the information regarding these, So any current nursing student or prospective students applying can help out and give some information. this will be great platform for networking and future CSI Nursing applicants.

Your inputs are much appreciated.:) Thanks !!!

hellooo..many people views, but no comments !!!

Hey. So here's the answer short and sweet. It varies every semester regarding NLN scores as well as seat. Last semester they were letting people in with decent GPA and scores as low as 110 on the NLN. the semester prior, NLN score minimum was 120 or 122. It varies. They look at the percentile more than composite. They are strict about the GPA and pre-reqs. If you're at min. 80 percentile, you should be good. The problem with CSI is that they don't have anything solid when it comes to the nursing program. It varies every semester that's why its so competitive because the students know that to almost guarantee their spot, their pre-reqs and NLN need to be up there. Hopefully you did well.

oh, and GPA for all classes must be above 2.5 and GPA of pre-reqs 3.0

To, egy_princess8 , Thank you very much for your kind reply. much appreciated for the info. I have good GPA of 3.94. and got A in all four pre reqs. and my NLN score is 127. So i kept my finger crossed. you r right that with CSI there is nothing definite, lot of people talk and spread so many things abt program.we understand its hard to get in though. Is department disclose or give info about minimum GPA or nln score college accepted for semester after admissions are done.

How many total seats CSI has for each semester, how many students are in whole NRS 110 class.

we appreciate ur time n very helpful for many students. Thanks.

Hello , egy_princess8 Are you current or Former CSI nursing student , how was ur experience with school. i heard some professors are not good, poor reviews for NRS 110. what is total no of students are accepted into NRS 110 each semester. (total seats)

Any current or former csi students are welcomed to post comments, as lot of students wants to apply and need info about the program. i heard school receives tones of application (avg 400) each semester.

Thanks for the information. I applied and was rejected. I received a 120 on the nln. Honestly, I was shocked I was rejected because a few people told me I should be getting in with a 120. Anyways, I guess that just means in the fall I have to score I 140 and higher to get accepted. Further feedback would be appreciated.

I guess things have changed. I am a CSI Graduate. I graduated the associates program in 2015 and the Bachelors program in 2016. When I applied to the program back in 2013 I knew people who got in with a 100 on the NLN. When I took the NLN I got 117 and this was without any form of studying. My Pre Req GPA was a little over a 3.0 because I got a C in Bio 150. What you get on the NLN or no matter how high your GPA is will not determine your success in the program. I knew people with all A's in the pre reqs who failed out of the program. Its all about studying hard and dedication. Goodluck and I hope all of you get into the program. All the professors are usually crappy for 110.

CSI's nursing program has changed quite a bit in the last few years. What everyone else is saying is true, the NLN scores will vary with every semester. When I was in the program (I started in January of 2013) they accepted 90 new students and allowed 10 repeat students. Now they accept 60 new students (and I suppose the number of repeat students is the same).

When I was in the program, we all agreed that getting into the program wasn't difficult but staying in the program was. I started as 1 of 100 and graduated with a class of ~50.

If you don't get in, don't give up! You can always reapply for the next semester. It's a decent program. I've complained about it since I started (I'm in the last semester of my BSN now) but I know of people that have gone to St. Paul's, Kingsborough and I have a friend that is currently trying to get into Hunter, and I'm glad that I chose CSI.

Do you guys know if you repeat a pre req you can still get into the program

if I got a 120 on the nln and my gpa with the pre-reques is 3.1 do i have a chance of getting in to the program. I got a C+ in bio

Are you in the Nursing program now? @ mackey_ny, ASN
