Hi all,
I am in the processing of reviewing CRNA schools, and narrowing down the schools I'd like to apply for this year. I have known I wanted to be a CRNA through shadowing experiences since before I started my BSN program. With that being said, I'm hoping to apply with one year of MICU experience. The MICU is in a high-acuity, teaching facility with a diverse population. However, I know I will have the least amount of experience of most in the application pool.
Does anyone have any insight on particular CRNA programs that weigh academic performance heavier than others? I am wondering if anyone on here was in the same position in years past- applying and accepted or rejected with one year experience. Other than years of experience, I feel like a competitive applicant. My undergrad/science GPA is ~3.95, I've co-authored several publications in nursing research, and was an intern on a CTSICU in my senior year of school. I'm planning to take my CCRN as soon as possible. I'm hoping to send applications to schools that weigh academic performance heavily, and do not prefer several years of ICU experience. Any advice?
PS I completely understand the argument of needing several years of ICU nursing before CRNA school. I've read countless posts here and elsewhere, and would rather keep this post to discussion on schools rather than opinions on experience. Worst that could happen is that I learn from the application process and re-apply in following years. Thank you!

As long as you meet the minimum requirement for experience apply. Some schools want a year at time of application submission and some want it by time you matriculate. No reason to hold yourself back if it is a school you are really interested in and are able to apply.
