CRNA application for Barry University May 2020

Nursing Students SRNA

Updated:   Published

Applying to Barry University Nurse Anesthesia Program for May 2020 cohort!! My GPA 3.89, ACLS/BLS/CCRN certified, 4 years of medical ICU experience.

Studying to take the GRE in May!

I am so nervous to apply. I am not good at standardized test.

What are other ppl stats? Do you think I'll get an interview.

I emailed Denise to see if they were any scheduled interview dates for Hollywood as I live out of state (but am originally from the area). She said there are no dates currently on the schedule. ? Was trying to gauge some more info on how long to wait before we find anything out, but no such luck! haha

I also have an MSN with GPA 3.93 and my BS was in human physiology. All prereq courses completed, I've taken adv pharm, adv patho, adv health assessment and research as well. Completing my CCRN this month. 2 years critical care experience - Surgical/Trauma ICU at major level 1 trauma academic hospital in Boston, prior experience was in inpatient PACU. GRE was 315 with writing score of 5.0. I have ACLS/BLS but will be taking PALS later in the year. All of my letters and transcripts were in when I submitted. Rec letters from shadowed CRNA, nurse manager and charge nurse colleague. I submitted 8/22 and am PAINFULLY awaiting any sort of response haha.

Awesome stats! My GRE is the weakness for me. I hope We hear something soon either way!

My GRE was my weakness too but they accepted me and just told me I needed to be in at least the 30th percentile on verbal and quant! So if you are in at least that you are good!

My stats aren't as good as the others I'm afraid. GPA 4.0 nursing, 3.9 overall, 3 years MSICU experience, charge nurse, rapid response RN, and now also clinical instructor for one of the local nursing schools. CCRN, ACLS, PALS, and BLS completed. GRE 156/147/3.5 completed in July, probably my weakest category. When did you submit your application and when did you get accepted? How long did it take for the university to contact you for an interview?

Same to you @S3682!! Did you do nursing undergrad or did you do a post-bach program as well? I hope we hear SOMETHING soon :(! Which campus did you apply to?

@avt829 I went From RN to an online BSN program. Then a few months later I did a MSN program and certified as FNP. I applied To the Ocala/Gainesville as it is the closest to home and my husband has a job here in GA. I expect it may take time with the holiday and now the hurricane. ? which campus for you?

@S3682 That's great, what a career move from FNP - Good for you! I did an accelerated generalist MSN after doing a non-nursing bachelors. I applied to Hollywood as that's where I'm originally from/want to return home. Yes, good point with the delay. Still painful ?

@avt829 I gave FNP 3 years and it wasn’t for me. I always Wanted to do CRNA so I stepped Down from fnp and went back to RN in CVICU 26 beds level 1 trauma center

@S3682 Good for you! Definitely the right move ? Sounds like you should be a shoe in! Good luck, keep us posted!

Keep me posted too @avt829

Barry’s website states the school is closed until further notice due to the hurricane. Don’t stress out ?

I submitted my application In the middle of May and then heard back in June for a July interview! Then I received acceptance in 5 days after the interview to the WPB location! My prayers are going to them because it looks like Dorian is going straight for WPB ?
