To me, coming from many jobs where orientation was a 1/2 day of paperwork, maybe a day following somebody, and then you're thrown to the wolves, this seems WONDERFUL. But to you experienced HH vets, how does this look? I've not had HH experience, though I do have Hospice experience.
1 day general orientation (paperwork, tax papers, etc.)
4 days general nursing orientation (not sure exactly what this is)
1 day hospice orientation
1 day wound care orientation
1 day OASIS orientation
2 days new nurse refresher class with home health focus
2 days IV Therapy/Chemo orientation
1 day case management orientation
2 days McKesson orientation with competency testing
1 day PT/INR Hemosense orientation with on line certification
1 day Telehealth Monitor orientation
1 day with OASIS nurse
3 days with HHN
1 visit with HH Aide
I'm actually scheduled to be in orientation until the first of June (started today) There's also a skills checklist before I can independantly see patients. Can you think of anything missing or that may need more time? Thanks!

That would have been fantastic If I would have rec'd part of that.
When I started at the HHA I am currently employed for I rec'd 1 yes (one) hour of orientation and that was right before the start of my shift.
I had about 2 hours of paperwork at the office and that was it.

That looks like quite a comprehensive orientation. Very good!
I am assuming that within your four day nursing orientation they will discuss Medicare guidelines, documentation, patient assessment, cultural diversities, safety etc.
Good luck on your new venture!

Sounds too good to be true. Take advantage of it. Ask all the questions you can come up with. You should be pretty well prepared after this orientation. Sounds like someone put a lot of thought and effort into developing this program. Kudos to that person. All hh employers should give this kind of orientation.
