I am moving from a big city to a little city. I applied for a position in my new city and they have put me through the ringer. Four interviews and counting! I have 3 graduate degrees and two undergraduate degrees and can run rings around anyone in their facility and feel they are treating me badly. I am to the point of telling them where to put their process.

However, I am trying t be a grownup! When can I tell them to kiss my !!!!!

I am ready to change plans and move to another city as I feel they are being mean and nasty! Am I being stupid? I worked dang hard for everything and they are treating me like a diploma nurse!

I'm not sure there's any reason that you don't need to go through the same hiring process as a diploma nurse just because you have 3 graduate degrees, that doesn't somehow automatically mean you're the nurse they're looking for.

Even if it's a particularly exhaustive hiring and interview process, if you can't handle just the hiring process then are you really more qualified to be a nurse there than someone with fewer degrees?

They may be concerned that you do not really plan to stick because of all your degrees and possibly your attitude is bleeding through.

My son interviewed for a job over a week ago; one in which he was flown to the job site, put up in a hotel, fed, flown home. He hasn't heard anything yet but they are still interviewing.

He is not in the medical field.

A long wait can be normal.

But you can certainly follow-up with them to see the status of the interviewing.

If you've never worked in this facility, how do you know you could run rings around everyone?

If it is a small town, telling someone off in a healthcare facility could make it nearly impossible for you to get hired anywhere in town. Managers in small towns know everyone--and they talk.

Your comment about diploma nurses was disrespectful. They worked hard for everything too.

Exactly how is this potential employer treating you badly? Not immediately hiring you because you have multiple degrees is not treating you badly. Multiple interviews are not uncommon and they have nothing to prove to you because it is you that needs the job.

"Trying" is the key word here..

Are all of those degrees nursing related? If not, they really aren't relevant to the interview process. If they are, what assurances have you provided that they won't influence you to leave the position before the facility can make a return on the investment of hiring and training you? Why should you be given special treatment? Other applicants are going through the same process you are. When there are multiple applicants for the same position, a determination has to be made.

Treating you badly? Being mean and nasty? No, sounds like they're trying to do a thorough job of finding the best candidate from the pool of applicants.

Maybe it's your attitude........just sayin'.

The swipe at diploma nurses leads me to believe that there's a bridge near here.

Deliberately inflammatory, I think.

Ummmm. I don't know that I'd want to hire you if you let any of that attitude bleed through.

And since when does the process for hiring someone change according to what degree they have.

You applied for an RN position right? Guess what, a diploma RN, an ASN RN, a BSN RN, and an MSN RN are ALL RNs. Which means they all have to go through the same exact process.

Not even sure what to say about your post. I'm not sure why you feel your degrees should give you special treatment unless you are applying for a position that requires the degrees that you hold. If you are applying for an RN position why should you be treated any differently than any other RN applying for the position? We do all hold the same license right?

If you want to find a job I would suggest not letting any future employers find out about the poor attitude you have or you will be wishing for someone to offer to interview you - even if it takes multiple interviews to receive a job offer. Good Luck to you!!!

I think the problem is your attitude.
