I have a criminal background with a dui, and old domestic violence charge are all related to my youth and alcohol. I am striving to become a nurse in the recovery field, and have been in recovery for several years. In the state of the Georgia, do you know if this will cause a problem. I contact the BON and they said it all handled on a case by case basis, but should not be a problem given all information is presented upfront. But as far as doing clinicals does anyone have experience getting approved for clinicals with a criminal record, my school says it should not be a problem again if all documentation is provided. The whole are seems a bit grey in getting a answer. I am just looking for some advice or someone who has had to overcome this issue.
I have and will continue to be completely candid and not hide anything, as it is the right thing to do, I am just looking to help people in the recovery community from a medical not psychological point.
Any information would be appreciated.
