I am a pre-nursing student looking to find a job in a hospital while I finish school. I would really like to be a Patient Care Tech or something similar in L&D or Postpartum/Newborn. I have been searching for opportunities and there are a few out there that are right along those lines. That being said, I need to have CPR training prior to applying for ALL of them. I am now searching for a place to get it. There was supposed to be a CPR class this Thursday, but they cancelled due to lack of attendance. The next class that I can find is Nov. 20 for a CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers. There is also a BLS course at Butler County Community College on Dec 12.
Does anyone know of another option out there that is sooner so that I can put in my application for these opportunities, as I am sure they are few and far between in L&D? Also, would I be better off getting the CPR/AED or the BLS? Thanks for any help you can give.

It might be good to see what the requirement is for your nursing program. My nursing school required us to have the BLS for healthcare providers (CPR and AED) through the American Heart Association. It's good for two years. Personally though, most employeers offer CPR training, it only takes a couple of hours, so I would apply without it and see what happens. You could also contact the American Heart Association directly about finding classes in your area.
