Published

So after 2 years of taking all the Exclesior College courses for nursing (and working full time + as a paramedic) I have come to the end and I am scheduled to take the CPNE the end of March in Madison Wisconsin. Im taking the EC workshop in Feb, and another workshop in San Jose in March as preps. Anyone been to Meriter for their CPNE, or have any words of wisdom??????

No info about Meriter, but good luck with your CPNE!

no info about their either, though i hope to test there as well in the end of spring. i have been going through ec since december of 04, when i took my first exam. i have to take ethics before i am eligible to apply for cpne. i then need 6 more credits, 3 of humanities and 3 of general ed. i have no idea what i will take for those. i am taking an online english class this semester for the written english req.

i just got my cpne study guide and skills bag set, and i am looking forward to taking my cpne at meriter soon. let us know how it goes! i am sure someone will be along here soon to give you some info you are seeking.

good luck to you!

welcome to allnurses!

good luck on the cpne. i know that there are quite a few posters here that have been successful.

I just want to let you know, the CPNE will likely be the most stressful thing you have ever done. I'm still traumatized. So traumatized, in fact, that even when they handed me my congratulations letter, I was too exhausted and worn out to show any excitement, I just kind of took the letter in my hand and stood there like a zombie. I started out Friday night neat and orderly, with my hair fixed and make up on. By Sunday I was so out of it I not only forgot about the make up, but had bags under my eyes and my hair was a mess...but I made it. I know we do this program by our own choice, but I feel kind of like a hostage survivor.

Good luck.

I did mine at merriter 5 years ago. I found it to be great the staff was excellent. I chose it because I heard good things about the site. I would avoid the workshops and 90% of the CPNE notebook you could just throw in the trash. All you need to memorize are the core steps and practice those on your own time. It seems overwhelming but it is not that hard if you know the critical elements.

I am also waiting for my CPNE. I am scheduled for Feb 10-12 in Atlanta at Grady.

I took the CHE workshop in November and it was fabulous. The owner/instructor's name is Tina. She will give you all the information and confidence building you need to pass your CPNE. I had to take the workshop earlier than I would have liked because of work issues. I think 4 to 8 weeks before your CPNE is a good time to take a workshop.

There were several people in the CHE workshop with me that already tested at Meriters and they all passed with no repeats. I've heard it is a very nice hospital and the CA and CEs are very supportive.

Good luck, Gina

Hi ... what is the CHE workshop? If I sign up with Excelsior, I will probably also test my CPNE in Atlanta. Would like to research some of these workshops and stuff as well. ;)

Thanks!

That is the web address for the workshop. When you get to that site, go to testimonials. Each one is numbered, testimonials numbered 43, 45, 46, 47, 48 and 50, were in the workshop with me and they all passed. I hope to be adding my own testimonial to Tina's site by Feb 13! There are a couple of other people that were in the workshop with me that have already passed but have not left feedback on her site yet.

There a couple of people that have left testimonials whose names I recognize from the yahoo groups.

If you choose to go to CHE workshop, you will feel you have gotten your money's worth after the first day.

Highly, highly recommend!

Wow! The workshop is in San Jose! Doesn't seem to be that costly considering it's a 4-day event though. I need to start checking out the yahoo groups -- which were you referring to?

Thanks again!
