CPM to CNM, Jefferson University College of Midwifery

Hi! Is anyone out there a CPM to CNM, who went to Jefferson University? Or even someone who wasn't a CPM but went to Jefferson to get their CNM? I would love to get info on the program. I'm pretty sure that is where I am going, and as a CPM/LM in Florida supposedly I get advanced standing in the program (I am also an RN/BSN), though I don't know what exactly that looks like yet - still in the admissions phase.

Thanks!

I didn't go to Jefferson (which used to be called Philadelphia Midwifery Institute) but I have friends who did. I'm a CNM who went to a different school.

I know this thread is old but I’ve been looking for some feedback from Jefferson students too. Allison, did your friends enjoy the program? Would they recommend it?

Has anyone else gone through the program or heard from anyone who has?

Hi Claralee, I racked my brain and found I knew 3 CNMs who attended Jefferson University. All 3 liked it a lot. They all said it's a program where you know your faculty and that was important to them.

I worked with 2 of them clinically and to me 1 seemed exceptionally green as a new midwife. Like, I used to ask myself how she passed certain classes. But that could come from any program, believe me. She was an older student; maybe this played some role.

Hi Allison,

Thamks so much for your reply. I really like the look of the ajefferson program but I’m concerned now it’s not an MSN which could limit job opportunities (hospitals tend to want an MSN!).

I wonder if there are good and average students in every program, which is pretty much what you said. Hoping it wasn’t because she’s an older student as I’m one too ?
