Experts,

We have LTC residents that has contracted covid, can I use Med A benefits without hospitalization?

I saw a note in this CMS, but I want to make sure.

If its true then I will create a 5D on the day they tested positive.

Thank you and Stay SAFE

The COVID dx alone does not warrant a skilled service. The criteria for skilled services, either that be nursing or Rehab, has not changed. As long as the care for the COVID resident rises to a skilled level of care, you may commence Med A on the day a skilled service is ordered/certified by MD and not necessarily the day COVID is diagnosed, which can be on or even before COVID is confirmed.
