So I got a call for an application I put in for the denver area corrections. Woman calls me and it sounds kind of like a contract position.. But I have zero experience in corrections. Anyways, pay is 80/hr. Does this sound just completely absurd and crazy? I just couldn't see the government dishing that much out. Weary about giving my info out.
If it is a 1099 type of thing- that is not out of line at all because you have to pay your own taxes (including 2x the SS rate to compensate for the employer not putting in their half) and buy your own insurance and other benefits.
NP or RN? As a psych NP that would not be considered a good rate in my area. Most corrections jobs are contracted out so not government jobs. The pay should be above average based on 1099, the increased litigation risk and this being a specialty that many wouldn't consider.
