Continuous Bladder Irrigation

Posted

I have a question, how often there are complications due to the fluid bag running dry on while having continuous bladder irrigation?

How you monitor that there is fluid flowing through? is there any device for that?

thanks

I usually mark how much fluid is in the irrigation bag at the beginning of my shift and then ensure that an equal amount is coming out.

ok. Thanks now there is any device that let you know when the bag is running out?

Just keep a good eye on it. Our CBI systems have two bags so I always would run one in and then switch over...and each time a bag is switched over, I spike a new one. It's just like running an IV in by drip rate instead of relying on a pump.

You look at the bag. When it is getting empty it's time for a new one.
