Contacting unit managers during COVID

I am in nursing school and my dream unit is NICU. There is a Patient Care Assistant job at a local hospital in the NICU that specifies they prefer nursing students. I applied a week ago (3/23) and I know a lot of hospitals take longer than this to get in touch, but I have gotten in touch with different unit managers (all on linked in) after I applied for jobs at different hospitals and have gotten a positive response each time, the jobs just never ended up being a good fit with my student schedule. Is it a bad idea to reach out to the unit manager while the COVID-19 pandemic is happening or should I just do it?

I wouldn't do it. The nurse managers have enough on their plate. And for all you know, the hang up could be HR processing the application.
