Hi! i'm just new here.. i have learned a lot information about nclex & CVS in this forum. I hope u could also help me. I'm confuse on what state to choose.. I can't decide between florida and california. I'm planning to work in florida, but a lot of people say that's it's much easier to apply for nclex in california since they do not reguire cgfns. i've learned that florida needs a CVS and I'm concerned that this will take several months.
My other concern is that I'm an american citizen and wasn't able to take the board exam last june. I'm not sure if i should still take the board exam this december. i'm worried that i would have limited time in reviewing for my nclex if i still take the december local board exam.
Hope somebody could help me with this. Thanx a lot everyone!:balloons:

i think you don't need to take the board exam anymore
it will be of little or no use to you
and it will also require more papers/documents since youre not a filipino citizen
so IMHO you dont need to take the local exam anymore
one thing i also learned in this forum (credit goes to suzanne) is to apply straight to FL.
if you want to work in FL, then u must apply for a FL license. FL doesnt require cgfns exam. the processing of your credential validation depends on how soon your documents will be received. so it's on you and your school. if im not mistaken, the processing by cgfns would take 6 months. but FL has approved a couple more other agencies/companies to validate your credentials. one agency there requires only 30-40 days to have your credentials validated after receiving all your documents.
CA doesnt require you to have your credentials validated by CGFNS or any other agency/company. they do the validating themselves, so it takes much longer. and there are a LOT of applicants there so you'll be waiting in line.
it's all up to you. good luck!
hi there! thanx for that advise! I think i'll pursue my nclex application for FL instead of CA. about my local board exam, i'm just waiting for my recognition as filipino citizen. it will be out in 2months time, i think. so there's no prob with that anymore. but i'll still think about it, whether i'll take that exam or not. hope you could give me some advise on my preparation for nclex, so that i could also share it with my friends. Thanx a lot!

hi iel21,
you might want to try the study guide provided by suzanne. read about it the nclex forum. i'm currently using her guide- saunder's comprehensive review for nclex rn 3rd ed. book and cd. also try the saunder's Q&A cd or/and book. you can buy this at national, goodwill or C&E at a discounted price.

If you don't have plans of working as RN here in Phil, don't take the local board. It's just as waste of time, effort, and money. How I wish I could be in your own shoes. Things will be easier for you since you're a US citizen.

Hello fellow filipinos!
I still go for taking the Local Exam, once you pass and have the license, it will be an added qualification you can write in your resume. And an added experience too in taking the exam more so with some of the knowledge you will acquire from studying the topics.
I took my NLE last Dec.2005,though i'm already filing my NCLEX preparations here in the US.I realized when i was preparing my resume for my job hunting, i have one more big credit, that is having a license in the Phil. as an RN.so it will be a big plus in our self achievement. You can of course take the NCLEX by passing the NLE.This will be on your own discretion to do.
Florida is a nice place to live and to work, weatherwise, like a Phil.half of the time.there's a filipino community here, where you get to know and befriend as days goes on.Good luck to whatever decision you will forego.

The CES report only takes an average of about six weeks to get. It is very different from the CVS, which takes longer for NY. NY requires that CGFNS obtain the documents, so that is the reason for the delay.
For the CES, you have your school and licensing obdy submit the documents, you do not need to wait for CGFNS to do it.
California is taking six months on average to get approval to sit for the NCLEX-Rn exam, if you graduated out of the country, it does not matter if you are a US citizen, but where you went to school.

Definitely not the way to go. Having a license in your country, if your goal is to work in the US will not make any difference on a resume. And what is the nurse does not pass the local exam? Then that is going to cause issues with getting permission to sit for the US exam, and only delay things.
You do not need to take the NLE to take the NCLEX-RN exam, it is not required to do so.
