Hello. I'm a new lpn and today I thought I popped my patients lorazepam to give it but when it was time to count narcs I saw that I hadn't given the medication. I feel so terrible and worried that this mistake could get me into alot of trouble. What do you think of this situation and have you ever been in a similar situation?

It's a med error, and they happen. What is most important is how you handled it when you realized it. The correct thing to do would be to amend the documentation to reflect that the med was not given and waste the pill according to your facility's policy. Most med errors that do not cause patient harm are not treated punitively.
Thanks for responding. And I did go back and change the documentation to reflect that it wasn't given.
