Computer Charting

I work in a small community hospital that has a completely computerized charting system. Initially it was hard to make the adjustment due, mostly to, techno fear by the staff. Once the system was up and running and the software bugs taken care of, the staff really learned to appreciate the ease and better quality of charting overall. The system that we use totally replaces the old paper chart. Labs, meds, treatments, assessments, vital signs/I&O's, care plans, notes, Drs orders...everything is in the system. It is even connected to our cardiac monitors for push button charting. The system is so well connected, that from any given computer, anywhere in the hospital, one can chart on any PT. I love it. It's nice to be able read someone elses writting for a change.
