Compact Licensure Process for new grads?

Published

Hi all,

I am a nursing student in Ohio (originally from California) and have been considering obtaining a compact license. I know Ohio and California are non-compact states, but what would be the process as a new grad to be licensed in a compact state?

Thanks in advance!

In order to have a true compact license, you need to live in one of the compact states. For example, I live in MA (non-compact state) but I also have a NH license (compact state). Just because I hold a nursing license in a compact state doesn't mean I now have a compact license. You need to prove residency in a compact state to actually reap the benefits of a compact license.

Thank you, is there a requirement for how long that residency is?
