Community college ASN in Los Angeles

Hi everyone,

I recently decided to follow my dreams and become a nurse. I suppose I will be considered a "nontraditional" student, since I already have a BA in an unrelated field. I've been researching programs in the Los Angeles area, and I've decided that my best course of action will be to get an ASN first, then hopefully return to school for a BSN after gaining some experience in the field. Is anyone familiar with the programs offered at LA City College, Santa Monica College, Pierce, etc.? Specifically, how do these programs compare in quality with the pricier "private" programs? Since I'm new to this, I don't want to opt for a program that will not adequately prepare me for the job in order to save a few bucks.

As an aside, you have a really awesome community here! It's so nice to see a group of professionals and pre-professionals so willing to help one another. Thanks!
