Published

common drugs in DR please.. thanks

Pitocin,

Lactated Ringers or Normal saline,

Lidocaine,

Methergine, (not necessarily in room, but know where it is for PPH)

Hemabate, (same as above)

Cytotec(misoprostil)-same as above two

Baby Meds: Vitamin K, Narcan(if mom got narcs), and Hep B vaccine if your facility does that.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Lactation, Women's Health, Obstetrics.

Although many of these medications are not stored in the delivery room, they are commonly (some much more so than others) used during labor at the facility I work at -

I would add:

Oxygen

Erythromycin Eye Ointment (for baby)

Terbutaline (tocolytic)

Magnesium sulfate (toxemia & preterm labor)

Nifedipine (tocolytic used in preterm labor)

Fetanyl (opioid)

Epidural medications (duramorph, -caines, others)

Ephedrine (to treat hypotension associated with anaesthesia)

Bicitra (for unplanned c-section)

Multiple IV antibiotics

I'm sure there are more but those are the ones I can think of right now.

D5LR, Insulin, Demerol, Morphine Sulfate, Phenergan, Zofran, Prostin Gel, Cervidil, Cytotec, Ditto on the lots of antibiotics (Penicillin, Ampicillin, Ancef, Gentamicin, Clindamicin) Postpartum = Lortab, Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Stool Softner, Tucks Pads, Lansinoh, Dermaplast
