Columbia ETP 2010

Published

Hey Y'all!

I'm getting ready to apply to the Columbia's ETP for 2010. I was just wondering who else was applying and what you were doing to make your application stronger! Also where else are you applying and what do your stats look like (GPA, GRE, experience, etc) ? I'm getting nervous as I start the whole application process and just thought I'd turn to the forums for some support and guidance!

I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with y'all! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Hi Beth_NP?

I have been accepted to the Anesthesia track and I also live in NYC (midtown)... Let me know if you want to meet up, it would be great to know someone before the program starts :)

My email is [email protected].

thanx a tonne.fleur

Hi again, all,

I am a local NYC resident (live in the Village) but I'm going to miss admitted students day (I'm in for WHNP). If there's any kind of meet up outside the official day here in the city, I'd love to come and hear about people's impressions! I am hoping to attend this year, pending a family situation. I have so many questions about the program - I can't wait to get into the accepted students site (has anyone gotten a password yet?!) and hopefully read more about the timeline, schedules, clinical placements, and everything else.

For the southern girls, I went to undergrad in Texas and I grew up in Florida... so I can tell you that its a really big change being here in Manhattan now! I'm so glad I'm here now, though. I'd be happy to answer questions through the boards or thru the PM feature.

Do others have any indication of things we can do between now and June to prepare? Books to read, classes to re-cram into our heads....?

Hi FL4763. Yes, I would love to meet up. CrstnBeach, we can definitely do something apart from the student day. We shall be in touch :)

I'm in socal (la and sd area), and can't attend visit day... :(

is anyone else in the forum from socal too? it'd be great to meet up and chit chat!

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to those that were accepted! I was accepted to the FNP track, and I recently discovered this thread.

I'm from the Los Angeles area (DizzyMissLizzy, I'd love to meet up!) and I'm beginning to freak out about making the move to NYC! I know campus housing is not guaranteed... anyone have any plans on what they're doing for housing? Living in New York is so expensive... and so is tuition at Columbia. Beth_NP?, I am also freaking out about $$$!

msvalenz, yes! let's meet up! i live in san diego (i got my undergrad down here), but i'm also from the los angeles area so meeting up would be easy as cake. look out for a message from me :) i am also SUPER nervous about making a move to NYC... roommate situation, cost of living, relocating, WEATHER!... it's all nervewracking, but i also know it's the chance of a lifetime!

i'm still waiting to hear back from other programs i applied to, but i am leaning very strongly on going with columbia regardless. $MONEY$ is also a huge issue... i have no help from family, and hate the idea of taking out huge loans... but probably will anyway... :banghead:

Hi all!! Congrats to everyone who got accepted!! That's awesome!! I got waitlisted for PNP w/ Oncology Concentration :( Does anyone know the chance of people on the wait list getting accepted?

Did everyone get the email invite to the accepted students day? Wow, long day (11am-4pm)! Also, no guests? I guess I'll tell the hubs to wander around on his own?

I just got the invitation too. I was thinking the same thing, what a long day! :) I already RSVP'd my spot. Looking forward to meeting most of you.

msvalenz, glad that i'm not the only freaking out about that. I want to get that taken care of right away but I was bit late in submitting my fafsa.

Has anyone gotten their fin aid package already??

Money is freaking me out too! I imagine we are all in the same boat...honored and excited to be accepted...worried about financing our educations?! I did not get mine yet. I think we should hear something this week or next. Anyone know?

hii everyone! i'm from the bay area and am most likely going to visitor's day. i can't wait to meet everyone! =D

i'm also soo worried about the whole financial situation. i submitted my fasfa this weekend so hopefully we hear something soon.
