Hey Y'all!
I'm getting ready to apply to the Columbia's ETP for 2010. I was just wondering who else was applying and what you were doing to make your application stronger! Also where else are you applying and what do your stats look like (GPA, GRE, experience, etc) ? I'm getting nervous as I start the whole application process and just thought I'd turn to the forums for some support and guidance!
I'm looking forward to sharing the journey with y'all! Hope to hear from you soon! :)

I live in Tacoma! I was waitlisted for FNP. My first choice school was TJU (and I was accepted) so I'm thinking I'll end up there. However, Seattle U is looking appealing. I had an interview with them yesterday. I'm so happy for you though. Congrats again! Was Columbia your first choice?
Cograts to you, on TJU! Yes, I will most likely end up going to Columbia, my boyfriend is starting a surgery residency on the East Coast, so it looks like relocation is inevitable for me. I am excited for a new adventure, though! I also got an interview at Seattle U and I really liked what I heard about the program...but I turned down the interview since I heard from Columbia.
Hello! I just found this site and am excited that it may allow me to meet my potential future classmates before the summer. I am in for the NNP program and am planning on attending the information session in March. I'll be moving from Kentucky, and I'm already trying to figure out what to do about living arrangements. Anybody looking for a roommate? Also, my mother is begging to come with us to see the school, anyone else's parents/significant other coming? haha
Hi CSRKY,
I was accepted to the FNP program and will be attending the visit day in March with both of my parents in tow. haha. They want to see where I will be spending the next few years (plus it's a mini vacation). I am also relocating from down south (Memphis,TN), and I too have already started looking for housing. I hope they will give us more info at the visit day about how to go about finding it. It's very likely that I will be looking for a roommate as well. Where are you looking? Close to campus?
MemphisTN,
I'm excited I won't be the only one with a funny accent =) I'll tell mom she's allowed to come now ha. Here's my email, I'd love to talk! I'm excited and terrified all at the same time, I just want to meet everyone!! Everyone else is free to email me too!!
Hey Everyone! I was accepted for the FNP track and will definitely be going in June. I am very excited and can't wait to get started!
I am wondering what thoughts are on housing. Any advice from current or past ETPers? I looked on the housing website, and it seems that the only housing available to ETP students is in Bard hall, which is traditional dormitory style housing. I would like to live on campus for the summer to make things easy, but am not sure I want the college dorm living once again.
Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Hello everyone!
As I had already posted, I got into the FNP track. I am so excited. I do have to say that the worry is starting to set in because of the $$$. I really hope that I get approved for a loan. However, I'm pretty sure that I'll go to Columbia if all goes well with the financial aid. I actually don't have much of a choice since I haven't applied anywhere else!! All the deadlines for the other programs that I was interested in are in March.
I think one of the things that I am most excited about is my commute will get really short. I actually live 2 subway stops from Columbia, I can even take the bus there. I wish luck to all those that are relocating.
Do let me know if you have questions about life in NYC. I am not one of those people that knows the hottest spots around town, since I don't go out much ..lol but I'll try to help as much as I can.
Do any of you have pending pre-requisites? If so, has Columbia made any mention of them to you in your acceptance letter or otherwise. I thought that I was missing a behavioral science course. I called Jose about it, he said that if it wasn't mentioned in the letter than I was fine. I dropped that course like a hot potato! He answered my question so fast, I know that he didn't look in my file or anything. I just wanted to confirm with you guys.
Sorry for the long post! Hopefully we can all get to know ea. other a little better before the program starts :)
congratulations to all who got in. I unfortunately could not but I am hoping for advice from you all.
Are they any good 1YEAR Accelerated BSN or 1 year RN that I could apply to. I am from California so somewhere this part would be great but even NY is good to. I feel I did not do much research this time and applied to limited schools. Maybe getting an RN degree and then applying for MSN could be a good strategy. I hope you all could advice me on this . Thanx a tonne and good luck.
Hi Catchababy
There are a lot of programs in the NY area, but most of them are 15 months I think....SUNY downstate and hunter college both have programs but their application deadline has already passed. Pace University you can do the BSN in one year with the option of continuing to the MSN for FNP. NYU also has an Accelerated BSN program that is 15 months. Applications for NYU are due March 1st I think, and Pace is June 1st. Take a look at those programs, see what you think. There's also Concordia which is Bronxville, right outside the city.
Here's a link to a website that lists 2nd BSN programs in Cali and elsewhere: http://www.bestnursingdegree.com/wizard-results/
Hope this helps!

I was accepted for the FNP track....yay!! Congratulations to all!
I will definitely be attending the Visitor's Day on March 5th and just wanted to start a conversation about this upcoming trip. I live on the West Coast, so I will be flying in on Thursday evening, and I was just curious whether anyone would be interested in sharing a place for the night (save money!!) or even letting me crash on their couch if they are local New Yorkers. Feel free and send me a personal message if you are interested in sharing with me.
Also, i've scanned almost all the posts here -- but I am not sure if it was mentioned that there is a pretty useful facebook page about Columbia's ETP set up by a current student...it has some good information, I think.
Once again, congratulations to all recent admits, good luck to the people on the wait list and I can't wait to meet everyone soon!
