College of the mainland- spring 2012 applications

Published

Hello, I have just submitted my application for COM Spring 2012. Has anyone else applied for this semester? I heard there were not many applicants this year due to starting the TEAS V testing, many people apparently didn't pass. If anyone else applied let me know!

Any current COM students have any advice for a COM hopeful?

As soon as you get in buy your books and read your toosh off before the 1st day of class. :)

Thank you. Are you in the COM program?

I also applied to COM for spring 2012 semester. Finished my application last week! Do you know how many people have applied? I know they are only accepting 30 into the program for the spring semester.

46 applied. 30 or a little more they said can be accepted. How many points did you end up with? They said many people didn't pass the TEAS.

I feel like my points score was terrible!!! :-( I only ended up with 99 total, and I've heard that 125 total is very good so I'm nervous... But its good to hear not too many people applied. I passed the TEAS with 88% correct. I didnt think the TEAS was very hard so when they told me that not alot of people were scoring well on it I kinda didnt believe them.

She also said letters would come the first week in October!

I had 121 points. 91% on my TEAS V. She said she wouldn't be surprised if this was the lowest scoring year they accepted. I hope she is right. I am taking a classes now to boost my score to a 140 for next semester though, so if I don't get in, she was certain I would get in next semester.

Well I wouldn't be worried if I were you! Sounds like you got it :-) Letters the beginning of October will be amazing!!!!! Waiting sucks... I wish they informed you electronically, by email.

To be honest I wouldn't even worry if I were you. Lol. Waiting is terrible!! I was thinking we'd have to wait till the end of october, when she said the first week I was so excited! Last semester they had a ton of applicants and 91 and above got accepted! When I first started applying I thought my score was like a 65 and she said I had a chance to get in because this semester was one of the lowest applications. Then I realized I did the calculations all wrong and I have a 121.

Did you apply anywhere else?

WOW 91 and above thats good to hear!

I was going to apply to San Jac but my cummulative GPA is too low because of one very terrible semester that I had right out of high school. San Jac was my first choice too, so I was pretty upset when I found out I couldn't even apply.

BUT thats ok because COM has a higher NXCEL pass rate than SJC. COM @ 96% for 2010 and SJC @ 91% for 2010.

So all my eggs are in the COM ADN Program basket.

How bout you?

Just COM. I took all my pre-reqs at San Jac but I didn't want to do their program. I've heard horror stories! I wasn't even planning on applying anywhere till next semester and I got a couple more pre-reqs done, but what the heck' I decided to apply for COM. I am applying for a couple more programs next semester if I don't get in here though. Yeah I heard that too. I am hoping for COM!!!

Do you know anyone in the program?
