Just made aware the as of July 1st of this year there will be a change in the pre-reqs at Broward College. Chemistry will still be needed to do Microbiology but will no longer be a prereq for admission into the nursing program. It is being replaced with College Algebra MAT1105. The nurses that applied in the May 15th pool will be the only ones that won't need to meet this new criteria.

I have heard the same thing. I am not sure about everyone else but this will definitely boost my gpa considering I received an A in that class and my gpa is low because I got a C in Enc1101.

At my school, I have to take college algebra, Chem 110 AND microbiology. Hoping the money-grubbing snakes won't add another pre-req to the list by fall.

Hi, does it say this on the website? they never update anything so I still see the old pre-reqs that are needed such as ENC1101,BSC1085 & BSC1085L , BSC1086 & BSC1086L and Chem1032. Do we need to take microbiology as a pre req now also? But the math we need is which one now? I am so mad, I am still in MAT0018 because I did horrible on the PERT. Broward did not take any of my credits from my other school so now it's holding me back from the CHEM1032 requirement until I finish out my math prep classes.

It is absolutely on the website. Micro is not part of the prerequisites, but it is recommended to take and have before beginning the program. Just know that it will not hurt your chances when applying. I would like to attend BC-NP, but I live in the Central FL area. Is anyone else coming far?

I went to see and advisor and she told me that it will be in effect as of Aug 20th, 2012. She said the pre reqs that were in the catalogue when I started my major are the ones that I need to have to apply. They initially considered changing it as of July 1st but after many complaints they decided to just let the students that registered before the change work on the pre reqs they were initially told they needed for the program. So good news for those of us that registered prior to this change in pre-reqs.
