CNA Schedules

Hi all, Are the shifts for CNA work really flexible? Do they work only 12's, or can you work 8's? Also can you work just part-time?

Hi, I work 8's. My unit no longer has CNA's doing 12's, that decision was made before my employment. Some CNA's on the other units do 12's, but they need to buddy up w/someone for coverage. If by part time you mean 4's, I don't believe so, at least we (or any places that I looked at in the past) do not. I'm a part timer, I work (5) 8 hours shifts w/in a two week pay period, I can also bidshift if I would like to pick up extra shifts as my personal schedule permits.

I'm not a CNA (yet) but most around here work 8's. The only ones If seen who work 12's work in the hosptial on the cardiac unit. Part-time CNA's still work 8's, but have only a couple shifts per week.

I don't really know how "flexible" shifts are, per se, as I have the same question. I would like to work PT while finishing school, but I don't think they (hospitals, LTC, etc.) will deviate from the standard shift schedule.

Part time its mean saturday and sunday(12+12Hours),that how my friend work and go to shool, i am going to do same soon.

It all depends on where you work as to what kind of shifts they offer. I believe that most places in my area offer 8 hour shifts. Some of the hospitals may offer 12 hour shifts, but I don't know which ones. Quite a few long term care facilities offer shifts that are less than 8 hours to cover busy times such as AM cares and breakfast or PM cares and dinner.

I just got a job at a LTC. The shifts they offer are 7-3, 3-11 and 11-7. Each shift earns more money. for example the 3-11 makes .50 cents more and the 11-7 makes a dollar more.

A dollar more than what? Squat? Ha-ha, just kidding.

But really, $1.00 more than what?

You are near me (Bradenton), except the big city so you should make more than here hopefully.

Are you going to Pre-Rn ADN and where if so? The big city is always an alternative,

except the traffic and rent $$$$ would be a bummer!
