for perineal care, I used 3 different corners of the rag and yet they failed me for the task. also said i didnt put on gloves after prepping area but i did. Also why is it so hard to mitt corners on a bed? Is it true that test proctors will fail a number of people to keep a quota for reapplication?

When you say you used 3 corners, did you leave the cloth open and then use one corners, rotate cloth and repeat. If so, then as the cloth dangles it could get contaminated easily. Also it is harder to see if you are using a clean portion of the cloth since it won't actually get dirty in the test scenario. You need to fold the cloth in half twice and use a corner, fold it down, us the next corner and fold it down. And always VERBILIZE what you are doing in case the observer is unsure.

Oh, and for mitered corners, it's actually very simple. Maybe a YouTube video, to refresh technique?

But you shouldn't have failed for just a couple missed points on the entire exam. Like the gloves is what failed you because it is a safety and infection control issue and usualy one of the bolded cannot miss items. There should be a process available for speaking the test result and reviewing where you may have a chance to plea your case that you did where gloves and weren't given credit for it.

I know how you feel. I just failed one for being off by more than 6 on systolic portion of BP. I am actually very good at BP and am never off by more than 2 in either direction. I am pretty sure I either wrote the number wrong, or the observer did because there's just no way I was off by that much. It sucks, but you either appeal or move on and take it again and try not to make the same mistakes or hope for different skills. GL

In my state pericare is a critical skill and one of the two guaranteed to be on the exam every time. If you fail it, you fail the whole exam.
