AM I going to follow someone around or is HR going to have us sit down and do paperwork and chit chat with the group? let me know please thanks

i am just wondering how i should dress for tomorrow

Normally, orientation includes paperwork, a tour of the facility, training videos, and going through things like the employee handbook. Sometimes they also do drug screens and physicals. Your actual training usually doesn't start until after orientation. I would dress in your uniform, though, unless told otherwise.

okay so srubs right? I was not told to wear those but I will and just in case bring a change of clothes like slacks.

We were told to wear street clothes for our general facility orientation. Lots of videos, reading, talking to payroll and scheduling, a small physical, and a facility tour. :)

ok what i will do is drive there in business attire. I will call on the way and ask the receptionist what they usually wear and have scrubs in my car just in case. Or I show up in business clothes and go change real quick like if everyone in the waiting room is wearing scrubs.

Either way I appreciate your input and will surely find out at 9 tomorrow and update you all!

Specializes in LTC.

If you're just watching videos and doing paperwork, then you definitely don't need scrubs. I wondered the same thing when I was first hired and when HR called me to tell me what time orientation was I asked her and she said street clothes.

For mine it was 2 days and wore told to wear "business casual" attire... 1st day policy and procedure, rules, etc etc..

2nd day videos, schedule, some clinical stuff in "staff development" office.. Taking each other's vitals manually, being taught some of the computer charting, quizzes, etc.. Id badges and thats about it..

Good Luck!

thanks to all who took the time to respond to me.

So yes, it was business attire. One gal came in jeans and a tank, which was not frowned upon. The orientation was simply signing paper work, touring, tests on various things like Alzheimer's and reading company policy. The Nurse in charge of training was super great and just the best. She made us feel at ease. I am having to be trained on the hoist as I told the nurse the truth about not knowing how to operate it.

I am excited and happy to work at a nice, clean, beautiful nursing, LTC, rehab facility. And I am no longer wondering what to wear LOL

I did go purchase some navy blue scrubs, I had no idea there were so many types of scrubs at the supply store, wow. Plus I lucked out they were 20% OFF at Lambert's

See yall
