Pregnant CNA

  1. Hi, so I have been a CNA doing Home Health. Doesn't require heavy lifting. My clients weigh between 65-80 lbs and it's a full body transfer due to their disease. What my concern is that I'm trying to have a baby. I am the only person there during my shift. Family is gone during the day. How will a pregnancy affect the position I'm in? I still plan on working throughout my entire pregnancy, but the lifting is what I will have trouble with. Hoyer Lift is out of the question.

You really should be discussing this with your O.B. and telling him just what your job entails.

And what does your employer say about this situation? Are they willing to accept the liability involved should you and/or your patient get hurt?

This is definitely something you need to be asking your healthcare provider. Pose all questions and concerns to him/her. Per the Terms of Service, we cannot provide the medical advice you seek.

    Good luck.
