Hello! I'm new here, and I am starting a CNA class in August. I'm so excited, but also nervous. I'll be 30 in Dec, and my whole career has been in childcare, mainly with infants, and I feel I have come to a stand still. The only way to further myself in that career field is to go to college. My WHOLE life I have wanted to work in the medical field, but I never considered myself qualified to do so. I figure now is the time to do it. It is either go to school for early childhood, or for my CNA and then down the line as a Respiratory Therapist, or a Radiology Tech, or a Sonographer, or a Nurse, etc...the options are nearly endless. I'm just so nervous about doing something "different". I have never gone to college, and haven't been in school for 11 years, so I don't know what to expect, or even know if I can do it. I'm sure I'll do fine, though, and I just can't wait for it to start!! :D

Welcome and congrats on starting your CNA classes soon! I'm starting mine this July and I'm also nervous but very excited.

Welcome Shygecko! I am about your age (32) and also had been out of school since 1993. I knew that now is the time to do it, or it would be too late. I began slowly taking all my pre-reqs for nursing school, and am nearly done. It is scary at first but I KNOW you'll do well. I am hoping to get into a nac course at a ltc near me in july. I was hoping to take the course at my cc, but for some reason this year they're not holding summer classes and I don't wan't to wait until sept. I know with determination, we can do anything!

Hi everyone, Im new to the website, and just been poking around. Saw this post and had to reply! I just finished my CNA course and let me tell you, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Ok first i was very overwhelmed and was sick a lot, lol. My instructors kept saying its so rewarding yada yada. I knew it would a great field and very special but I felt rewarding was a cliche. Well I just finsished my clinical and I laugh now, because it is Very REWARDING! It is very difficult at times, but its reat when you see you make a difference in a patients life! I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions, you can try and track me down. -Jen[MOUSE][/MOUSE]

Carreer changes can be scary. I went from underwriting for auto insurance into nursing a few years ago. I'm still in school for my RN now but I just started a job as a Nurse Tech at a hospital. You can PM me if you'd like to know more information. I just finished my CNA classes the last week of March and two weeks later I had a job in a hospital that I have always wanted to work at in a unit that I get to see and do a lot of things.

good luck. Get your feet wet in this job just being there will help to lead you to the field thats right for you. go get em.

I know how you feel. I have been working with children for the past 10 years. First as a teacher assistant in a day care and then as a teacher assistant in an autistic support class. There have been a lot of changes where I work and people are being laid off. It's really scary to have people you work with getting laid off and wondering if you are going to be next. So I decided I needed to do something different and I have been looking into CNA training. This site is just wonderful for gaining information. Good luck to you. I'm sure you are going to do great in school because it's something you want so badly.

Hello and welcome. I started back to school when I was your age. I was scared to death, but I have no regrets now. I will be graduating this dec with my ADN. I have done very well in college (was not a good student in high school) and I am planning to finish my 4 yr. shortly after I graduate. My long term goal is to become an NP before I am 40! Life is short and if you have a dream you need to go for it! Good luck!
