I am taking a Home Health Aide Certification training course. Our instructor explained to us that the state board can deny us our certificate for number of reasons. ex. past traffic tickets, child support, student loans, and criminal. Can you be denied for owing medical bills, taxes, or any other outstanding bills? There are several people in the class worried about this. We live in the state of New Jersey.

You should contact the certifying authority in your state and ask. Being in debt probably won't keep you from getting a certificate. However, if you have a record of court judgements for indebtedness that shows up in a background check, you might be denied employment at some places.
