Home Care advanced cases

I am a little excited... I have been working for my Home Health Agency for a little over two years now and I started really green in the medical feild by just being an Aide, and frankly being scared out of my wits, and I didn't feel I knew much of anything. then I took my CNA class a year and a half ago and it helped termendously in my confidance of being a care giver .

Today I get a call from Human Resources asking me if I want to get some training on more advanced cases. Such as working with spinal injury cases and such. He said that on these cases they just don't take anyone they want those that take their jobs seriously and the big thing needs to be very dependable. You are a caregiver that we look for for these type of cases, and He said I totally think you are ready for this.

So I meet with one of our nurses on Monday who is going to be giving me 2 hours of training. I am so excited to just get another step in knowledge and being able to advance in my job. When I met with this same person at my two year review he asked me any goals I'd have for this year and the one thing I said was I want to get to a point in my job where I felt I could handle any case that came my way. I wanted resource and scheduling to be able to depend on me no matter who the person was that they were looking to get care givers for.

oh I love all you wonderful nurses!!! Though I am very content and I love my job working with my clients and helping them with their daily lives. There is something about being able to help people who want to be able to stay in their own homes. MAkes me feel like if I have to work and be away from my family this is the type of work I want to do.

I hear ya! My sister (who is a nurse) encourages me to go on to nursing school, but I am content and I love being a CNA, especially working in a nursing home.
