Flagstaff Medical Center Nurses voted against union representation by the California Nurses Associations NNOC in an election held earlier this week.
The CNA of course claims that management threatened pro-union staff and otherwise interfered with the fair election process. ULP's have or will be filed by the CNA delaying the certification of the vote therefore not allowing the voice of Flagstaff Nurses to be heard and disrespecting the will of the voters.
Yeah, I'm still here

True, but the thread title did not sing to me like "CNA Loses in Flagstaff Arizona" I think that conveys the message better.
I wonder why the CNA did not announce the results of the vote on their website?

Obviously, you're against the union. If the nurses really voted the union down, why stress over a recount, or any actions taken to be sure that this is what the nurses want?
As we know from our 2000 presidential election, mistakes can be made. Getting the most votes doesn't always mean winning, and getting the fewest doesn't always mean losing.

It does seem appropriate to me that he post a thread on this board. There are already threads here about union activities in New Jersey, Texas, and other states. If I didn't read the Arizona board I would not have known about the union activity in Flagstaff. Should the OP should have just posted a link to the other thread?
Actually, the union is not seeking a recount.
Chuck Idelson, spokesman for the nurses group, said it expected to file complaints with the National Labor Relations Board about the hospital harassing nurses and would try to have the election overturned.
It's not a matter of butterfly ballots, absentee votes, or hanging chads this time. I don't doubt that the hospital would have been equally diligent in seeking wrongdoing if the vote had gone the other way. But just imagine the intimidation if we didn't have a secret ballot! The UAW is pushing to eliminate the secret ballot.
The ballots should remain secret.
BTW- native Arizonan here. I'm very pleased that a union could even get close enough to nurses in AZ for a vote to be possible.
Smells like progress.:yelclap:

I agree, this is much closer than the last time. Now what do we do down here in the rest of the state to get the ball rolling?

No mistake was made in 2000. Just people upset about the result trying to CHANGE it after the fact. Same concerns here.

We shall continue to disagree.

The CNA must have thought it had a chance to win. I wonder how much of its members dues money was was wasted on a what you believe was a sure loser? How long will it take for the staff to recover from the anger and resentment created by a union organizing effort?
