I recently applied to a CNA position at a hospital and they actually want me to come in for the interview. The thing is, she wants to talk about my clinical experience. I looked back at the job description and it says the qualifications are that you must complete your first clinical rotation.
My problem is that , I didn't see that since I was so excited to see the job opening. The thing is that I am not in nursing program yet.
Do I email her saying I am not currently in the program and I got excited and looked over that part or do I go along with the interview and hope it is not a deal breaker? The email she wrote states she wants to do a phone interview about my clinical experiences. My parents on the other hand tell me to just go to the interview and see what happens. i think that is a waste of time but I don't know.

Email the recruiter to explain the situation. If this is a CNA position geared towards students who have completed their first clinical semester then you are not qualified and just wasting time by going through with the interview. They may be willing to give you a chance if you are forthcoming with your oversight.
Something as simple as
Dear Miss Recruiter,
I apologize up front as I am not a current nursing student and therefore have no nursing school clinical experience. It was an oversight on my part when seeing the job listing and excitedly applying. I am willing to move forward with the interview as I am currently a certified nursing assistant having completed my training at ABC Vocational School with 90 hours of nursing assistant clinicals completed at Happy Retirement LTC and Community Hospital.
I look forward to your response as to how you would like to proceed. Again, my sincerest apologies for the oversight on my part.
Best Regards,

If the job descriptions states it requires 1st semester clinical experience, and the recruiter wants to interview on your experience it will be a waste of both of your time to even do the interview. Also, it could hurt you later if trying to get an RN job with them that you tried to apply without proper credentials. But def send her an email stating it was an oversight and see if it is ok to still interview. Or see if maybe there is a non clinical position you qualify for to at least get your foot in the door at the facility for future clinical jobs. GL

I would go. You never know what might happen. I would explain up front that you didn't see the whole email and apologize but what's wrong with going? She may really like you and hire you and get you the experience and credentials you need. What do you have to lose? Absolutely nothing.
