I just completed my State Boards for AZ. It wasn't too difficult. Just remain calm and don't let your nerves get the best of you. My school had test review before our state exam to make sure we were ready and if you could not do all skills at 100% you were not allowed to take the state boards. You just have to make sure you KNOW the skills and you will be fine.
Our clinicals were done in one week (40hrs) it was long but I had a good time. I worked with some really excellent CNA's and one CNA that should be fired (borderline abuse to the pt.). We just followed the CNA around for their whole shift. Since you are not licensed yet you should not try to ambulate pt.'s since you are not aware of their limitations without a CNA with you. You become a rockstar at Pericare for sure. I not sure how many depends I changed. The pt. are great they just want someone to pay some attention to them so it was great to get to know some of them. I think that was the best part of the experience.
Good luck on your clinicals and the state boards!

As a RN student getting ready to do my 96 hours (8shifts) I can tell you that I am just as scared as you are. The LTC facilities are a little easier than somewhere the patient turnover is high. Build rapport with the patients and that will go a LONG way. Don't be afraid to talk to the patients and ask questions when you are unsure.

Sorry to hijack the topic, but I cant figure out how to post a thread. I took my CNA exam for the AZ State Boards yesterday and did everything perfectly I thought! Well I left feeling great until I realized what I had done wrong. On the fluid intake sheet, I wrote down all the numbers for the liquids and forgot to write Mls next to each number. Is that a fail? Im sure it is, but I figured id ask. I guess I was so caught up in putting the numbers on perfectly I didnt realize. Ugh!
