Well, now I'm down to one as someone decided that it looked ripe for the popping with a pencil.

Had a dad bring in his two daughters this morning before school started (mind you they hadn't been to class yet) so I already knew where this truancy train was heading. He proceeds to tell me that they both had fevers last night, vomiting, diarrhea, runny noses and coughs. Then asks if I think we should check them before sending them to class.

*blinks rapidly a few times* Sure.

103 and 101 respectively. Then asked if it would be excused since I was sending them home.

Lemme check on that. Went and got the Principal because this. is. just. ridiculous. Principal backs me up saying that the students were technically never signed into school. Dad not happy.

Of course, we all know that next time dad will just send them on the bus to infect everyone and have them see me when they come in. OY. WITH. THE. POODLES. ALREADY!!!

Two have left me shaking my head this week... was asking a high school student if they have any photophobia as part of a concussion assessment. As I ask, he spins around and looks at the florescent light on the ceiling and said, "I don't thinks so"... neither do I.

Second kid came in asking if he could "just take a small rest". Complaint- eyes sore because the snow was very bright yesterday.... Suggested next time sunglasses would be helpful. He didn't like that suggestion.

When the SPED AID is acting all gloaty because she gets to send one of the kids out that she won't have to deal with and acts like she has saved the rest of the school from being exposed!!!! Yep, at 3:05 - after contagious kid has been here since 8:30.  Kid got picked up a whopping 7 minutes before she would have left anyway.

That grateful moment when you get a text saying that the news inaccurately reported a threat against a school in your county... Only minutes later to get a text from your teacher husband saying it was his school (different county) and the police are on scene.

C'mon Now. Praying for safe schools all across the country.

My heart jumped for you. Thank God it wasn't real. That's so scary.

A school in our district received a hoax threat last year, it's very scary.

Thanks guys! Hubs says police are still patrolling hallways, but there aren't many students left as most of them checked out.

Just had a student come in and tell me she lost the back of her earring and her teacher sent her up because she thought I would have some. I mean really?!

A piece of pencil eraser works. But those would be found in the classroom, not the nurse’s office!

It should be in your first aid kit next to the duct tape, extra bras, and full pharmacy.
