Clinicals and UTAs

Hello,

I am a new nursing student that will begin in the spring. My program is nights and weekends and requires 8.0 hours of clinicals a week right from the start. I work full time and I'm an Air Force Reservist as well.

My question is: What can I do if I encounter any issues with my clinical rotations conflicting with my Reserve duty? I know I am allowed to reschedule only one UTA per quarter with prior coordination and approval.

I'm just looking for advice on others' experiences with juggling work full time, school full time, as well as reserve commitments and how to go about this if my Unit is inflexible when it comes to allowing me to do clinicals that may interfere with UTA weekends.

It's a good possibility that your unit will not allow you to reschedule your drills. You need to speak with your units leadership and the Dean of Nursing on this.
