Hey students, I want to ask those who know already. What do your clinical schedules look like?
I signed up for classes last night and decided to do 5 classes first semeseter (all afternoon or morning classes) and 3 the second semester (all evening). That way instead of paying for daycare, and then a babysitter 3 days a week, I could just pay a babysitter when I need them. So are clinicals a weekly thing? Twice a week? two weeks on two off? Are there classes running at the same time as clinicals? How does it work? (typicallly, I'm sure all schools are different.)

Every school is different. We were told lecture was over at 11:00 MWF. And that clinical days expect to be on site or in the lab for 6-7 hours. I did not realize that some of the homework required making time to be in the lab outside of those times and generally spend a few hours aftere class on MWF in the lab as well. I'm lucky to have child care but it stresses me for the older kids and knowing they may be alone for an hour after school on quite a few afternoons.

It depends on your school. Each class will probably be a little different. Most of my clinicals were once per week, 8 hour clinicals. offered either in the morning or in the evening on a weekday. Some were 8 hours Saturday and Sunday, 5-6 weekends per semester. Toward the end of the program, clinicals were 12 hours.
In my program, though, you registered for your clinical time when you were registering for your lecture classes. So you knew when the clinicals were offered and what times.

or us, it depends on the semester! 1st semester we had clinicals once a week, 2nd and 3rd semester it'll be twice a week, and 4th it's once a week. That's if you are FT. 1st semester clinical was 6 hrs. 2nd they were about 7 hours. 3rd they will be 7 hrs and not sure about 4th yet!

It depends.. I am in my second semester of the LPN_RN bridge and I received my schedule last night. I have class on Monday(9am-4pm) and 9 or 12 hours clinicals every tuesday, wednesday, or thursday(one day) for the next month. The are calling them rotations I have three 36 hour rotations(2 med surg, and one mental health) so basically 9-10 days of clinical for month of September. Some of my classmates have clinicals every month so their days are spread out( Its 145 of us so 10 straight weeks for the professors) Also we have 4 hour clincals on campus with the famous Simulator patient that's built into the class schedule.

At my school we have lecture M and T from 8am until noon. On W, TH, and F we have a mix of labs and clinicals. Some weeks we only have one clinical but for the most part it's two clinicals a week. My first clinical is next week....I can't believe they are letting us at pts this early! Everyone in our program has to have a CNA license and we just got done learning our head to toe assessments so I'm not sure what they are going to have us do, head to toes assessments or basic CNA type stuff?!

We have clinical on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 0700 until 1330. But all schools have their own schedule. Check with your school.

Usually we do about 4-5 weeks of clinical each qtr(12 weeks) and they are on Tues/Thurs. this quarter, (L&D) we will have clinicals on Mon/Fri and classes Tue & Thurs(may have some clinicals on Wed too). Class 8-950, clinicals 7-3. Also while we wait for clinicals to start and when they end, we may end up with classes all day all week.

In my program, you have clinicals once a week. First semester doesn't start theirs until about 8 weeks into the semester, but everyone else starts the third week of class. For this semester, I only have five clinical rotations as I start my practicum November 1st.
