My wife has an ongoing application to the BON. Although she had all the required docs as a foreign graduate, the BON recently wrote a letter re: deficiency on number of clinical hours on Medical and Surgical Nursing.
Any idea or hard facts on how many hours you'd spent on these areas?

I'm currently in school for LPN and I had 4 weeks of regular med/surg clincials then I have an additional 4 weeks with med/surg part 2 and peds.. so I guess it's considered 8 weeks total with 5.5 hrs a day
Thanks ChangeofPace. Is it the same no. of hours for RNs?

I just received a letter from the BON saying that I am also deficient in hours in medical and surgical nursing, 50 clinical hours each. I am also a foreighn educated urse. Anyone have an idea of how I can obtain those clinical hours?? I am trying to obtain a license in Florida.

are you all licensed in another state? Almost all of the foreign nurses at our hospital got their initial licenses from CA then got the FL license through reciprocity because of the difference in schooling requirements. Good luck.
