I am thinking about applying to the nursing program at CSU. I have pretty much completed all the pre reqs except for Chem I & II. I plan on taking one this spring and the other in the summer semester. I actually planned to apply to the program in January though (I saw online that you can apply as long as you have two of the science courses completed).
I heard how hard it may be to get in. Anyone in the basic BSN program now? My GPA is in the low 3's (3.2, 3.3) But I have pretty decent healthcare experience (been working at Cleveland Clinic for the past two and a half years). I plan to get references from my former NM and another nurse I used to work with. I hardly see CSU talked about around here lol.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, in terms of competitiveness it is hard just because everyone wants to go into nursing now. Usually you need to have a high GPA but you have 2.5 years of healthcare experience which will make up for a lower GPA. Great letters of rec from healthcare professionals will help as well. Make sure you continue to work as an aide PRN while in school!
Thanks for your response! Have you completed the program already? How did you like it?
I'm in the accelerated program but I asked about applying to the basic program if I didnt get in and the adviser said the basic program is more competitive because the students know they want to get into nursing. I love the CSU program. Ive talked with others who went to Ursuline or CWRU and Im glad I went with CSU.
